Network access controls (NAC) ensure that only authorized users are permitted to access network resources. NAC solutions must address a wide variety of access requirements:
- Roaming employees need a simple to use, uniform process for accessing the network from wherever they're working - in a corporate office, at home, or on the road;
- Guest users need to be restricted in accordance with IT policies;
- IT staff needs to be able to easily manage NAC policies regardless of the scale of the network.
Aruba's NAC solution affords a new level of security, control and operational simplicity because it works over existing wireless and wired infrastructure without changing the network, the applications, or access processes. Our ICSA-certified policy enforcement firewall makes NAC more secure and far more manageable than VLAN-based NAC solutions.
To best leverage existing infrastructure, Aruba's NAC solution interoperates with best-in-class security systems, utilizing standard protocols and open APIs such as RADIUS. Access privileges can be based on user identity attributes, client posture attributes and traffic inspection. Enterprises can conduct deep and broad security assessments before provisioning a network connection, and can apply unique policies to application-specific devices such as voice-over-Wi-Fi handsets.
