Network Management

Management Through User-Focused AirWave 7

Management systems must enable networks to evolve from being port-centric to more user-centric. Traditional "swivel-chair" management systems focus on network elements which make it impossible to construct a big-picture view of the network.

The Aruba AirWave 7 management system starts with the user - focusing on how the user is connecting, where the user is connecting from, the user's path through the network, and the performance of the user's applications. As users move around the network, AirWave 7 maintains historical location and performance information so that problem areas can be easily identified, resolved, and even predicted. For IT operations teams, AirWave 7 provides customized views for network engineering, help desk, security operations, and executive management.

  • Visibility into every user and device
  • Threshold-based alerts
  • Scheduled events and reports
  • Detailed reports for Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance audits
  • Device configuration (including multi-vendor management when comprised of wireless devices from more than one manufacturer)
  • Centralized software updates
  • Wireless and wireline rogue detection
  • Router and switch monitoring and configuration
  • Integrated Windows CE and Windows Mobile device management

Legacy and new wireless networking equipment often need to run side-by-side, in some cases for several years, because of capital equipment purchasing cycles. The AirWave suite manages wireless networks from Aruba as well as Cisco, HP ProCurve, Motorola/Symbol, Avaya, Foundry, Proxim, 3Com, Trapeze, and Tropos, among others. In fact, many of the largest deployments of the latter vendors are managed by AirWave.
